Last year, we
skipped Halloween because of the stomach flu.
This year, it was because of the honest-to-goodness, possibly Swine, flu.
Lorin seemed fine in the morning, but by noon she was a shaking, congested, feverish, red-eyed mess. And her parents weren't feeling that great either. After everyone took a nap, we trooped over to the Urgent Care that told us over the phone that there was only a 15 minute wait (lying liars). Two hours later, we left with prescriptions for Tamiflu. Since we'd heard that Tamiflu can be hard to find, we immediately started calling around for pharmacies that stocked it. And we learned that most pharmacies closed at 6 p.m. on Halloween. Seven minutes earlier. Another two hours later, Lorin was asleep and Mr. T was waiting patiently (at the only open pharmacy in a 5 mile radius that had it in stock) to fork over a $130 co-pay for our prescriptions (thankfully, the Urgent Care had the children's liquid).
But we're all feeling somewhat better, and Tamiflu seems to be worth every penny.
Here's Lorin before going to her Aunt and Uncle's ward's Halloween Carnival on Thursday. Good thing she thinks that was trick-or-treating.
