Merry Christmas Dress
Saturday, December 13, 2008
Sorry about your snowstorms.
After mooching off of Grandma's membership for a year, Lorin and I got our own membership to the Phoenix Zoo. It was a perfect day for the zoo - 60s and slightly overcast, and the place was empty. We started with the lions, which were just lying around ("Shhh. Lions are sleeping," Lorin explained to me), and ended with the elephants. In between, we saw giraffes, ducks, baboons, elephants for the first time, birds (those weren't actually in exhibits, but they were exciting nonetheless), a tiger, some sort of grassland creature with long twisty horns, and a show. The best part, though, was seeing this with cousins.

(We don't know the kid in the middle. He just wanted to see the elephants too.)

Side-note: we've been working with Lorin on posing for the camera. As much as I prefer candid shots, sometimes I'd like to get something other than the back of her head or a big blur. She's starting to understand the process of smiling and saying "cheese," and we're working on holding still.

And looking at the camera.

Adventure #16: Organ Stop Pizza

Technically, this is not Lorin's first time to the home of The Mighty Wurlitzer, but 23 months ago she slept through dinner and the show.
This time she loved it. She screamed in excitement, danced and sang along to the music, and drank way too much root beer. And she very politely applauded after every number.
